Contrary to reports, production on "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" has not been halted over an alleged lawsuit against series author Stephenie Meyer, a rep for Summit Entertainment told Access Hollywood
"There is absolutely no truth to the rumor about any interruption to the filming of NEW MOON," the rep said in a statement to Access. "The production of the film has not been stalled or interrupted in any way and filming continues as planned. Additionally, after consulting with Stephenie Meyer and her publishers, speculation about any claims of plagiarism are also completely not true. This is a hoax, pure and simple."

"The Internet for all of its assets can still be an easy breeding ground for such hoaxes and detractors, and we hope that people will not be duped so easily, and use appropriate diligence before perpetuating everything or anyone that claims to have information about the TWILIGHT franchise," the rep continued.
On Monday, rumors surfaced that an alleged former college roommate was suing Stephenie, the writer of the four wildly successful "Twilight" novels, for idea infringement. In the lawsuit, the roommate reportedly claimed the novels were based on a short story she had written.

A Utah courts spokesperson told Access on Monday there were no records for the reported roommate, a Heidi Stanton.

Production on "New Moon" began in March in Vancouver. The film is slated for release on November 20, 2009.
