Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew were all killed with the same weapon, a law enforcement source revealed to the Chicago Tribune.

Police have reportedly done forensic testing on a gun they recovered Wednesday in the North Lawndale area of Chicago and confirmed it was used on all three victims.

Authorities recovered the .45 caliber Sig-Sauer semiautomatic in the shrubbery of a vacant lot, according to the Tribune. The gun was discovered one block from where the body of Julian King, Jennifer’s 7-year-old nephew, was found.

On Monday, authorities discovered King’s body on Chicago’s South Side in an SUV that was registered under his uncle’s name, Jason Hudson. A police official previously told the Associated Press that the child was believed to have been alive when he was taken from the home where his uncle, Jason Hudson, 29, and his grandmother, Darnell Donerson Hudson, 57, were shot and killed on Friday.

William Balfour, Julian’s stepfather, remains a person of interest in the case. He is being held by authorities on a parole violation, but they have not charged the 27-year-old in connection to the Hudson family murders. Balfour has reportedly refused to take a lie-detector test and has stopped cooperating with detectives a source told the AP.
