Redmond O'Neal Tests Positive For Meth, Heroin Also Found – Faces Up To 3 Years In Prison

The legal troubles continued for Redmond O'Neal on Friday.

Access Hollywood has learned that the son of actors Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett appeared in court Friday to address his termination from his "Prop 36 program" on April 1 after he tested positive for meth – his third violation in the program, a rep from the Los Angeles District Attorney's office told Access.

Additionally, traces of heroin were found in O'Neal's room.

Proposition 36 is California's Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act, which allows first and second-time nonviolent, simple drug possession offenders the opportunity to receive substance abuse treatment instead of incarceration.

Following the program termination, O'Neal failed to notify the court that he had been "discharged from the program," the rep told Access. The rep noted that O'Neal did go to court, but only asked for his next appearance date, not telling the court he was no longer in the substance abuse treatment program.

According to the DA's office, O'Neal he could face up to three years in state prison for this offense, which does not take into account two other pending legal cases.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, O'Neal will be back in court on April 17, for his ongoing case at LAX court regarding a DUI & drug arrest from January 2008.

Additionally, O'Neal and his father, Ryan O'Neal, were arrested on September 17, 2008 at the actor's Malibu home after police said they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a search.

On Thursday, O'Neal's mother, Farrah Fawcett, was released from an undisclosed LA-area hospital after a brief hospitalization related to complications from a minor procedure, a rep for the star confirmed to Access Hollywood.
