ROLL CALL: ‘Twilight' Screenwriter Wants Channing Tatum For ‘Eclipse'

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans

'Twilight' Screenwriter Wants Channing Tatum: Channing Tatum has proven he's good at playing the bad boy – case in point: "Step Up," "Stop-Loss" & "Fighting" – but can he play a vampire bad boy? "Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg sure thinks so! "There's a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well," "Twilight" and "New Moon" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the "Eclipse" script, told E! Online this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation. "And there are some complexities to that character… He really is tragic. He's a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn't want him. Channing could do that beautifully." We're losing track of the "Twilight" hottie count!

Did Madge Get Jesus A Gig?: Now that Madonna is recovering after her equestrian accident, the pop star reportedly has model Jesus Luz tending to her needs – at least when he's not busy on the catwalk. According to a New York Post Page Six source, designer Marc Jacobs, "wrote a letter of support for Jesus' work permit" allowing him to stay in the country. "All these fashion lines are hiring Jesus as a favor to Madonna. As long as he can legally work in the U.S., they can be together," the source claimed. Madonna's rep told the paper, that the pop star is "not at all involved in managing the career of Jesus Luz. His Dolce job was arranged through his agents." And Marc Jacobs' rep had no comment about the report. Regardless of how Jesus got his current gig, we're sure that having him around will aid in Madge's speedy recovery!

Kate Gets Catcalled!: Speaking of May-December moments, Page Six spotted Kate Winslet recently getting hit on by two high school guys while walking down Sixth Avenue at 26th Street in New York. The source claimed, "two high-school guys, who had no idea who she was, were totally hitting on her. They followed her to Seventh Avenue and kept commenting on her big, hot booty and how sexy she was." The source said the poised Oscar winner "completely ignored them." Good for you Kate!

John Mayer Now Gets One Less Magazine In Mailbox: We're not sure John Mayer has actually canceled his subscription to Rolling Stone (or if he even ever had one), but judging from some recent Twitter updates, the singer is not a fan of the music mag. "I just read a review in Rolling Stone of a 'single' I haven't even finished recording yet. That's a new one for me," he Tweeted. "Rolling Stone's August 12, 2009 issue is a real piece of s**t." I guess we know who won't make the cover anytime soon!
