Renee Zellweger Hit in Car Crash

Actress is unhurt, cops say

Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger was involved in a Beverly Hills car accident Monday but left the scene unhurt, cops said.

Zellweger was driving in Beverly Hills at approximately 11:00 a.m. Pacific time when another car slammed into hers, leaving the "Bridget Jones' Diary" star's car damaged, law enforcement officers told TMZ.

One of the headlights on Zellweger's car was smashed and another car lost a license plate in the crash, TMZ reported. It wasn't immediately known who or what caused the crash, but sources said the actress was not to blame.

"A green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-turn in front of her silver Mercedes," Lieutenant Tony Lee told People magazine. "Ms. Zellweger was not injured, the damage to her car was very minor. She was very polite and sincere," Lee said.

Zellweger's car was towed from the scene and the two drivers' insurance companies will handle damage costs, Lee said.

The actress is famous for starring in blockbusters like "Jerry Maguire" and "Chicago," which earned her a Golden Globe. She picked up an Oscar for her role in the 2003 movie "Cold Mountain."
