Jessica Simpson: I Used to Obsess About Being Fat

Pop princess says she used to worry about her weight when she was young

Jessica Simpson confessed she used to obsess about her weight and was concerned about packing on pounds even as a kid.

In an interview with Glamour, the buxom blonde who debuted a beefier body earlier this year, admitted she's always struggled with her body image and would constantly think about being fat.

"When I was young, I would look at magazines and feel a lot of pressure," she told the magazine. "As a child of 12, I would write things in my journals like, 'I'm lying here and all I can think about is that my stomach is hanging over my underwear."

The pop princess is hosting her own VH1 reality show "The Price of Beauty," which looks into what people around find beautiful and why.

The 5-foot-3 pop princess was a size 2 when she infamously squeezed her toned bod into a pair of itsy bitsy Daisy Dukes for her role in "The Dukes of Hazzard." She drew criticism earlier this year when she debuted a fuller-figure during a concert in Florida.

"No matter how much money you spend to make yourself beautiful -- with all the products, the diets, the plastic surgery -- in the end, women need to fall in love with themselves and realize they're beautifully and wonderfully made," she told the magazine.

"There is no 'perfect' you."

In the interview, conducted before her split from NFL star Tony Romo, the starlet professed her love for her now ex-beau, saying she would always love the Dallas Cowboys quarterback -- no matter what.

"If this article comes out and we're not together, I'd still love him, and he's still be a huge part of who I am today, " she said.

The singer also compared a break up to "a death in the family."

"You go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion and then all of a sudden you hae to find life by yourself," she said. "Once you do that, you feel complete -- and that's the only time you can truly fall in love again, and give yourself over complete to another person."
