Lindsay Lohan at the Center of Jewel Heist Mystery

British autorities would like to have a chat with Lindsay Lohan about some missing jewels.

Scotland Yard is looking to talk to the actress about $400,000 worth Christian Dior jewelry that disappeared after a June 6 Elle Magazine photo shoot in London. Lohan is not considered a suspect at this time, but she is the last person known to be wearing the gems.

"We will speak to a number of people in connection with the inquiry," a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said.

The magazine released a statement that appeared to exonerate Lohan.

"Elle has no reason to believe that Lindsay Lohan was in any way responsible and has no further comment to make," the statement said.

But some Elle staffers who were at the photo shoot tell a different story.

"Lindsay kept telling stylists how much she liked the jewelry and asked if she could keep it," said a source close to the investigation told the New York Post. "Even when they explained Dior wanted it back, Lindsay continued to ask [to keep it]."

The Post's sources said that Lohan was acting erratically during the photo shoot, and that she seemed to be "off her head on drugs."

If Lohan were the culprit it wouldn’t be all that shocking. Lilo has been known to have sticky fingers in the past.

In 2008 Lohan snagged a prized fur coat from a Columbia University student while she was partying in a club in New York. Lohan eventually returned the fur.

This is second time Lohan has had to deal with Scotland Yard, too. In 2006 Lohan reported stolen a Hermes handbag that was full of jewels. The bag turned out to be misplaced.

As to the current snafu with Scotland Yard, Linday’s rep says investigators have not contacted her about the Dior jewelry, which was discovered missing on June 8.

"Lindsay is happy to cooperate," Leslie Sloan-Zelnik told Entertainment Tonight. "She wants them to find the missing items."
