Kevin Bacon ‘Looking Forward' To Seeing Chace Crawford In ‘Footloose'

Chace Crawford may be stepping into Kevin Bacon's dancing shoes in the upcoming "Footloose" remake, but the original star said he's ready for him to cut in.

"It's cool, yeah," Kevin told Access Hollywood. "It was a little bit surprising to me just because I don't wake up in the morning and look at myself as someone [who] it's time to remake his old movies, you know what I mean?"

But with the 1983 film almost three decades old, Kevin admitted it might be due for an update.

"I sort of think of [remakes] as more of something you do when things are back in your distant past, but of course, the movie is 30 years old or something, and I guess it's time," he said.

And the star showed some enthusiasm for his replacement, noting that he was looking forward to Chace's performance.

"I think its fantastic and I think he's going to a great job," Kevin said. "I am looking forward to seeing it."

While Chace has talked about his lack of training in recent interviews, looking back to his own "Footloose" days, Kevin remembered being a dancefloor novice as well.

"I went to a serious dance boot camp, because I had never danced in films or onstage, or anything," he said. "I used to go out and dance at the clubs but I wasn't a trained dancer, by any stretch of the imagination. There were also a lot of gymnastics in the movie so I was kind of shocked when I saw everything that was going into [it] — different trainers that I had and choreographers. The mirrors, the bars and the rings and the whole thing and I was like, 'Oh my god what have I gotten myself into?'"

Still, he concluded, "Footloose" was worth the effort.

"I like those sort of physical challenges and I had a great time making the movie," Kevin said.

And almost 30 years later, Kevin's projects are just as rewarding — he earned an Emmy nomination on Thursday morning for his role as Lt. Col. Mike Strobl in the HBO film "Taking Chance," telling Access that it was "very special" to work on. The star had the chance to break the good news to his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, about their twin nominations — she's up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her title role in TNT's "The Closer."
