Jett Travolta Likely To Be Buried In Florida; Family Members Respond

The body of John Travolta’s teenage son, Jett, will likely be returned to Florida following his tragic death on Friday, Access Hollywood has learned.

A Restview Mortuary source told Access on Saturday morning that they planned to meet with the Travolta family later in the day. According to the source, an autopsy will be performed on Monday and Jett’s body will then be brought to the mortuary. The Associated Press reported on Saturday afternoon that two pathologists would be used during the autopsy to make for a “thorough assessment” of the cause of death.

And according to the AP, Jett, who was 16, will likely be buried in Ocala, Florida, where the family owns a home. As of Saturday morning, Jett’s body remained in Rand Memorial Hospital.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, according to a source, Jett suffered a seizure and hit his head on a bathtub at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on the Grand Bahama island, leading to his death on Friday morning.

The family, which owns several beachfront units at the hotel, were on a holiday vacation. Police are currently investigating the death.

Assistant Superintendent Noel Curry of the West End Bahamas police department told NBC News on Saturday that the investigation is standard procedure for an unusual death, and he does not believe a crime was committed. No official cause of death has been released.

“This is the worst day in Mr. and Mrs. Travolta’s life — nobody wants to bury their child,” family lawyer Michael Ossi told Reuters on Saturday.

And Michael McDermott, John’s corporate and commercial attorney, told the AP the death was “heart-wrenching.”

“John and Kelly are still sleeping,” he said. “They probably stayed up most of the night. If you knew how much he loved that boy … You could just see it, you could feel it.”

“Kelly’s kind of withdrawn to herself,” he added. “She’s dealing with it in her own way.

“Kelly’s mother, Linda Carlson, told OK! Magazine on Saturday that Jett was “one of the most special, loving boys.”

“I thank God I had time to spend with him before Christmas,” she told the mag. And Kelly’s half-brother, Chris Palzis, told OK! that the family was “devastated.”

“It’s definitely a bad time. That’s all I have to say,” he said.
