"Braids have come back full force," according to stylist Paul Norton of LA's Warren-Tricomi Salon.
"They're not the "Little House On The Prairie" look we've seen before. They're a little more funky and have a little more edge to them."
This edgy style is a great alternative to the ponytail and can easily go from day to night. The best part about it - you can do it at home and the less perfect and more "rough" it looks - the better.
"Even Jennifer Aniston went to the Oscars with a rougher braid," Paul points out.
Part hair in center and pull into two low pigtails. Loosely braid each using a little bit of hairspray to help control hair. Use a coated rubber band to secure. If some strands come lose, that's ok, it will give hair a Bohemian effect. And you can even use a comb or your hands to "rough up" the ends of the braids so the effect is not as finished, not as polished.
Once hair is braided, take one braid and use a bobby pin to secure it on top of the head. Pin the other braid on top of that one and you're ready to go!
