Helio Castroneves has become a father.

The former "Dancing With the Stars" champ and his girlfriend, Adriana Henao, welcomed their newborn girl, Mikaella, on Monday, the Indy 500 star Tweeted.

Helio posted a picture of his newborn who weighs 7.3 ounces and is 19 inches long, the racing champ noted.

Mikaella came early. As previously reported on, the baby was due in January.

Helio told earlier this year that he found out his girlfriend was expecting before he won the Indy 500.

And he said the baby news, which followed a big year for the star that included not only the Indy win, but acquittal in April of tax evasion charges, was thrilling.

"This year started very difficult, the middle was kind of a 'Wow!' and now this,'' he said. "This is a great ending for the book.''

Helio previously won "Dancing" with partner Julianne Hough in November 2007
