Popular comedienne Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly donated $100,000 to the No on Prop. 8 campaign initiative in California.
According to the No on Prop. 8 campaign, Ellen’s donation goes towards a media buy aimed at encouraging those in her state to vote no on the ballot initiative, which seeks to define marriage in the California Constitution as between a man and a woman.

Ellen’s media buy will take her public plea, which she released Tuesday on her show’s Web site, to television airwaves in California, where it will attempt to sway voters.
“Hi, I’m Ellen DeGeneres,” the talk show host said in the clip. “I got to do something this year I never thought I’d ever be able to do: I got married. It was the happiest day of my life. There are people out there raising millions of dollars to try and take that right away from me. You’ve seen their ads on TV. They’re twisting the truth, and they’re trying to scare you. I believe in fairness. I believe in compassion. I believe in equality for all people. Proposition 8 does not. Please, please, vote no on Prop. 8.”

Ellen’s contribution comes after a host of gay rights bloggers called her out for not donating immediately to fight the proposition.
