Charlie Sheen Faces Down Juggalos, Sort of Wins

Agreeing to appear at the Insane Clown Posse's "Gathering of the Juggalos" pseudo-music festival pretty much means you're signing up to be booed, abused, and frequently pelted with garbage.

Charlie Sheen, however, is kind of used to that by now after his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" nationwide tour, so this pairing seemed like a natural.

And for the most part, Sheen was received with relative warmth during the three-day, Detroit-based festival. Boos were mixed with some cheers and many in the crowd played along with Sheen's catchphrase-driven banter - and although beer cans and other items were chucked at the 45 year-old actor, the crowds cheered when he calmly and good-naturedly caught them. (two videos have been posted from separate nights, one clearly positive and the other more ambiguous. Both feature language that is not safe for work, so be warned).

A low chorus of boos and a few launched beer cans is as close as Juggalos - the nickname fans of the musical train wreck Insane Clown Posse gave themselves - come to a standing ovation.

The "Gathering of the Juggalos" show is a notoriously raucous and violent affair - last year, singer and reality TV star Tila Tequila was hit with rocks, bottles, firecrackers, feces, and other debris and suffered some minor injuries. So at least Sheen walked away unbloodied.

The Insane Clown Posse's Violent J took to the band's web site to support Sheen's appearance.

"My personal thinking is if everybody's making fun of Charlie Sheen , he's welcome with us. He can speak his mind, say what he wants to say and I don't think anybody's gonna make fun of him," said J.

"We never intentionally book anybody to be set up or get booed. Our intentions are nothing but to put on the greatest, best show possible," added fellow Clown Shaggy 2 Dope.

The Detroit-based hip hop duo formed in 1989, and have dabbled in video games, pro wrestling, and other endeavors. They are also confused by magnets.
