    Ramon Zayas is an anchor for Telemundo62. You can watch his live newscasts during the 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

    Ramon’s favorite part of covering the Greater Philadelphia area is giving the Hispanic community the tools and information for progress and growth.

    “As information vehicles, we have the duty to not only report on current events, but also to provide ways and information so that the community can reach the tools for development, a better way of life, education, and much more,” said Ramon.

    Ramon is most passionate about investigative reporting, documentaries, and special journalistic assignments. His most memorable story he ever covered was the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “It was the most difficult assignment, and left an emotional mark on my journalism career,” he said.

    Other memorable stories that Ramon has covered include the live coverage of Osama Bin Laden’s death, the Japan earthquake, and the production and development of the documentary, “El Papa del Pueblo,” about the life of Pope Francis.

    With more than 25 years of broadcasting experience, Ramon joined Telemundo62 in 2013. Prior to that, he worked for the Telemundo Network in Miami, Florida, where he was the news anchor for the network’s morning show, “Un Nuevo Dia.” Ramon has also anchored and reported at Telemundo 47 in New York, Telemundo 48 in San Francisco, and Univision 41 in New York.

    Ramon received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from San Francisco State University. He has received numerous awards and nominations for journalistic work and community involvement, including several Emmy awards and nominations.

    Ramon is devoted to working in the community, particularly helping children and the elderly. When Ramon is not on the news, he enjoys playing music. An avid classical guitarist, Ramon also plays the Cuatro, the national folk instrument of Puerto Rico from which he hails. He enjoys the study of instrument construction and spending his free time restoring high level convert classical guitars.
