The Holiday Memory I'll Never Forget: Kelly Bayliss

From buckets of ashes to intolerable itches, these are the moments that shaped our Holidays and our character. From the NBC Philadelphia family to you and yours, "Happy Holidays!" Oh, and fair warning: We do talk about a few "Santa" memories that you probably don't want the kids to see!

It’s been almost 20 years since my most memorable Christmas, and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

I woke up very, very early that Christmas morning -- I was super excited that particular year because I snooped and found my gifts early, a TV for my room and a brand-new ten speed -- but little did I know, I still had a huge surprise coming.

I ran into my parent’s bedroom to wake up them up. Mom wasn’t budging. She said she wasn’t feeling well and sent my dad downstairs with me to open gifts.

It wasn’t until after I was finished unwrapping, that my dad told me why my mom wasn’t feeling well -- she was ready to pop! My first (and only) brother was ready to enter the world! And after 10 years of being an only child, I was more than ready to be a big sister.

The rest of the day flew by.

I remember I got dressed and was sent outside to ride my bike until my mom and dad were ready to go.

The three of us piled into the car, family gifts in tow and drove to my grandmother’s house.

My parents stayed until about 4:30 p.m. -- when Mom’s contractions were two minutes apart, they left for the hospital.

And at 6:41 p.m., I had a brother, Evan Thomas Bayliss.

On Saturday, Evan turns 20-years-old and after 20 years, he’s still my most favorite Christmas gift.
