Music Makes a Splash on the Waterfont

Music fans unite! The three-day XPoNential Music Festival kicks off this Friday, just over the bridge from Philly on the gorgeous Camden waterfront. With our picturesque Philadelphia skyline as a backdrop (if you’ve never seen the view of Philly from Camden, you don’t know what you’re missing), the festival transforms tree-lined Wiggins Park and the Susquehanna Bank Center into an oasis of musical goodness. Once you park and enter the gates, it's an easy walk between the stages at Wiggins Park and the Susquehanna Bank Center for performances through the weekend.

For those new to the area, WXPN is a non-commercial, member-supported, public radio service of the University of Pennsylvania. The station is passionately dedicated to supporting the music of artists you typically won’t hear on other stations, and this festival is your chance to see many of them perform live, all in one place.

The festival celebrates its 21st year this summer, with an impressive lineup of big names, local acts and emerging artists. Here's the schedule, so you can plan accordingly:

Insider Tips

What to Expect - A friendly, mellow and laid-back environment. If you're a member of the station, you'll get to enjoy a members-only tent where you can meet and greet some of the artists. A variety of food and beer will be available for purchase.

Tickets - Advance purchase is available online, or you can pick them at the World Cafe Live box offices in University City or Wilmington. Tickets will also be available at the gate.

Parking and Directions - Because other events are happening this weekend on the Camden waterfront, public transportation is highly recommended. For all your need-to-know info, check out WXPN’s FAQS after the jump.

What to bring – Blankets or low-back chairs, water and/or non-alcoholic beverages, personal snacks, sunscreen and the kids! Free face painting, games, activities and more will be available in the Kid’s Corner Children's Garden, a dedicated area where kids can run around, make new friends and just be kids!
