Another Helping of "Sucker Punch"

    Coming Soon: "Sucker Punch"

From writer-director Zack Snyder comes this story of a young girl who tries to escape a mental institution and a pending lobotomy by fighting the demons in her imagination. Starring Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino and Jon Hamm, the film opens March 25, 2011. (Published Thursday, March 3, 2011)

If you're going to check out "Due Date" this weekend (and you probably should), you can look forward to seeing the new trailer for "Sucker Punch," Zack Snyder's "'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns" epic. Or you can just watch it here.

The film stars Emily Browning as Baby Doll, a young woman in the 1950s whose evil stepfather has her institutionalized and scheduled for a lobotomy. As near as we can tell, Baby Doll retreats into a fantasy world where she hones the skills she'll need to make a real-world escape. The official synopsis for the film isn't terribly helpful, but here it is:

“Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.

We're not loving this trailer as much as the previous one, it's starts off kinda melodramatically and Scott Glenn as the The Wiseman growling instructions at Baby Doll is a bit much, but the visuals remain eye-poppingly nutzoid.

Joining Browning in her adventures are Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung (who was just cast in "The Hangover 2"), Jena Malone and Carla Gugino, whose characters were all introduced via posters that were released online during Comic-Con.

"Sucker Punch" hits theaters March 25.
