Natalie Portman Is "The Other Woman"!

News that Natalie Portman was "The Other Woman" would be a lot more juicy it had anything at all to do with her recently announced engagement and pregnancy, but alas...

IFC Films has released the trailer and poster for "The Other Woman," starring Portman in the title role, with Lisa Kudrow as the previous woman and Scott Cohen as the cheating husband who switches from one to the other.

Written and directed by Don Roos, who adapted it from Ayelet Waldman's novel "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits," the film follows Portman's character as she falls for and weds a married man, loses her one-day-old baby to SIDS and struggles with her relationship with her stepson.

We loved Roos' debut effort, "The Opposite of Sex," as much as anyone, but this trailer ain't doing to much for us. It looks a little Lifetime-y, and not in a good way (whatever that might be). There may be a reason this movie has been sitting on the shelf since 2009.

"The Other Woman" makes its world premiere New Year's Day On Demand, before a (presumably limited) theatrical release Feb. 4. The cynic in us can't help but think the timing of this is somehow tied to Portman's rave reviews for "Black Swan."
