Shady Lobbies for B-West's Return

Former Eagles great Brian Westbrook opened up the possibility of a return to Philly while he was in the area this weekend.

“I would love to be back in Philly,” the running back told NBC Philadelphia Sports.

B-West who was released by the Eagles last off-season wound up playing a backup role with the 49ers for most of the season. He only had ten touches before rushing for 136 yards in a relief role in late November on Monday Night Football.

But despite his diminished role and being on the wrong side of 30, the 31-year-old thinks he has something left in the tank.

"I think I can help," he said.

B-West, who says he is in touch with the Eagles, has a big supporter in his corner -- Eagles starting running back LeSean McCoy.

"That would b great if my big bro @brianwestbrook20 came back to Philly," tweeted Shady Monday.

If B-West came back he would likely serve as a third-down back -- something that could alleviate some blocking duties from McCoy and give Shady the chance to catch his breath every once in a while.

The man who replaced B-West as the Eagles’ featured back followed up his first tweet with Westbrook’s correct Twitter handle and a simple message.

"@20westbrook COME BACK HOME"

Westbrook, despite wearing a Nationals hat from his real hometown of Washington seems to count Philly (where he not only played for the Birds but starred at Villanova) as at least his adopted home.

"(Philly’s) a special place -- the best fans in the world -- I can’t deny that," B-West said. "I missed it being out in San Francisco."

Well maybe B-West could come home again -- but don’t bet on it.
