A preseason win was overshadowed by another Michael Vick injury.
On a night in which coach Bill Belichick sat his starters, the Eagles took advantage, defeating the New England Patriots 27-17. Despite the victory, the big news of the night was another injury to Vick.
With around five minutes left in the first quarter, Vick suffered a huge hit from New England Patriots linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. Vick was able to get up on his own power and walk back to the locker room where he underwent X-rays on his ribs. While the results were negative, Vick did not return to the game. Head coach Andy Reid later claimed that while Vick is sore, he's "okay."
Before the hit, Vick was 1-for-3 with a total of 5 passing yards. He also rushed for five yards on one carry.
During the second quarter, Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to the locker room. No word yet on how serious the injury is.

During the team’s first preseason game against the Steelers, Vick hit his throwing hand against a helmet and left the field wincing in pain. X-rays on his hand came back negative.
Vick was replaced by backup QB Nick Foles who performed well. Foles threw 18 for 28 for 217 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Through two preseason games, Foles has thrown 24-38 for 361 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. The 23-year-old rookie from the University of Arizona currently has the highest passer rating among quarterbacks in the preseason.
LeSean McCoy scored a touchdown and ran for 30 yards on seven carries. Clay Harbor caught two touchdowns and had six receptions for 30 yards. Rookie running back Bryce Brown ran for 51 yards on nine carries. DeSean Jackson had four receptions for 82 yards.
Another moment during the game that has gained plenty of attention was a heated exchange between Coach Reid and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins during the second quarter.
The argument happened on the sideline after the Patriots scored a touchdown and two-point conversion. Jenkins was on the bench when Reid approached him and said something to him. Whatever Reid said, it prompted Jenkins to stand up and the two began to yell at each other until they were separated by defensive line coach Jim Washburn and defensive tackle Derek Landri.
Linebacker DeMeco Ryans later commented on the exchange, claiming Reid, “got a little rowdy for preseason. It’s a little too early for that but we know the importance of it.”
Neither Reid nor Jenkins have commented on the spat.
The Eagles have only three days to rest until they take on the Cleveland Browns on Friday in another preseason matchup. The banged up Vick will more than likely rest during that game.
