Eagles, Cox Reach 4-Year Deal

Now every Eagles draft pick is signed before training camp

The Eagles prized first-round pick is officially in the nest as Fletcher Cox and the Birds announced a four-year deal Monday afternoon.

The team didn’t release specifics of the contract.

The 6-foot-4, 298-pound defensive lineman was the only Eagles draft pick who had yet to sign.

Having Cox in the fold helps solidify a defensive line that is expected to be a strength for the 2012 Eagles.

Per CSNPhilly.com:

…As expected, the Eagles will have all nine of their draft picks at training camp in Lehigh University when rookies report on July 22.

Cox was the 12th-overall pick in the draft in late April. He was the second defensive tackle taken in the draft. The Eagles moved up three spots to take Cox a pick after Kansas City took Dontari Poe at 11.

Cox was an All-SEC first team pick in 2011, when he had 8.5 sacks, 114 tackles and 24.5 tackles for a loss.

So what will Cox do with his newfound riches?

“My biggest thing is just going in and playing. I’ll do something really special for my mom and my siblings. Other than that, me playing football is the most important thing right now.”
