High winds and snow have combined in western Pennsylvania to create hundreds of examples of natural sculptures known as snow rollers.

The Derrick of Oil City reports that on Monday many residents woke to find found curious sculptures in their yards, gardens and fields. The area is about 90 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

People report some of the shapes are like jumbo rolls of paper towels, while others are like bowling balls or huge doughnuts.

According to the National Weather Service a snow roller is a rare meteorological phenomenon in which large snowballs are formed naturally when chunks of snow are blown along the ground by wind.

Sixty-eight-year-old Nancy Graham says she's never seen a similar display, and now her yard is covered with the shapes.
