A clipper system will bring changes to our forecast New Year's Eve. Think of a clipper as a quick moving mail package from Canada

This 'envelope' doesn't typically contain a lot of moisture but rather frigid winds.

Light snow accumulations are possible to the north; 1-2 inches. While Philadelphia and nearby could see rain/snow showers early Wednesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for the Poconos and Northampton counties until 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Precipitation is not the weather headline though. The bigger story, on Wednesday, will be the chilly air mass and gusty winds.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the entire area until 10 p.m. Wednesday. The winds will continue to pick up throughout the morning and really howl in the afternoon and evening.

Some advice if you have outdoor New Year's Eve plans.  Go with the "messy" hairstyle or invest in a lot of hairspray.  Winds will  be howling over 50 miles-per-hour, at times.

Temperatures will peak late morning and take a nosedive from there. By the time you pop the champagne, wind chills will be in the single digits.

Be sure to dress in layers and protect any exposed skin if headed out.
