The Phils tarped the field as rain delayed the start of Game of the the 2009 World Series between Philadelphia and the New York Yankees.

Game 3 of the 2009 World Series between the Phils and the Yanks got off to a late and wet start.

Originally set to start at 7:57 p.m, the game didn't actually get going until 9:15 p.m.

The Phillies tarped the field shortly after 7 p.m. when the rain became more than a pre-game nuisance.

MLB officials interviewed on Fox-TV assured viewers the game would get underway and would get finished Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Cole Hamels was on the mound for the Phillies against the Yanks' Andy Pettitte.
