Districts Cancel After-School Activities

Before storms even hit the area today they already caused problems for area students.

The Philadelphia School District announced around noon that all after school activities including athletics would be canceled Monday due to severe storm watches.

Per the District website:

"Due to the inclement weather expected in the Philadelphia area, the School District of Philadelphia is canceling all after-school activities including all athletic programs scheduled for today. All District early childhood centers and Out of School Time (OST) providers will remain open as per their regular schedule."

A Tornado Watch is in effect for the city and surrounding areas until 5 p.m. today. And scattered Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were also issued throughout the afternoon.

Other schools also cut off after school activities due to heavy rains moving through the area including the Colonial School District in Delaware.
