Minor Quake Shakes the Garden State

Quake measured 3.0 on Richter scale.

    A minor quake shook parts of New Jersey Monday night.

    A minor earthquake shook Morris County, N.J. just after 10:30 p.m. Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

    The 3.0 magnitude quake was centered near Morristown, which is about 35 miles from New York City.

    The rocking was widely felt - - but no injuries or major property damage were reported.

    The area is not immune to quakes. There have been 50 quakes since 1974 -- the last one, a 2.1 quake, occurred July 28, 2008.
