Winter Weather Causes Mess in Philly, DelCo

Many spots are seeing slick spots as well

A Winter Weather Advisory has been extended, to 1 p.m., for Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, and Carbon counties. This is for the threat of freezing rain and sleet this morning.

But many spots not mentioned in this advisory are seeing slick spots as well.

News10 has received many reports of icing and accidents on area roadways, including a crash between a SEPTA bus and seven cars on I-476 southbound. Police say there have been about 25 accidents this morning on 476 north and southbound. There have been no major injuries so far.

If you do need to travel this morning take things slowly. Be extra careful on bridges and overpasses, which tend to freeze first.

We will see times of more moderate rainfall this afternoon with the rain ending this evening.

There will be improvement this afternoon, as a southerly flow develops and bumps up the temperatures.

Temperatures south of the city could reach into the 50s, while north it will be about 40 degrees.

The work week will start mild with highs above 50 degrees Monday and Tuesday.  As a cold front moves through Tuesday afternoon a shower can't be ruled out.

The end of the week will see a return of the bitter cold air.  Wind will pick up and temperatures will drop back into the 30s for highs with lows into the 20s in the city.
