Ice Jams Cause Major Flooding in Pennsylvania

Ice jams, recent rains and runoff from melting snow were continuing to cause minor flooding in Pittsburgh and the threat of same along some western Pennsylvania rivers.

The most serious situation appears to be in Armstrong and Clarion counties, where the Allegheny River was under a flood warning for Monday morning.

The river was more than three feet above flood stage in Parker on Sunday afternoon and the waters were expected to crest Monday.

In Pittsburgh, low-lying areas like the Mon Parking Wharf along the Monongahela River and the river walk near PNC Park along the Allegheny River were flooded Monday.

No rain was forecast and high temperatures were expected in the low 60s for the first time this year in much of western Pennsylvania.
