Flash Flood Watches Around the Region

Rain, heavy at times, is expected to fall throughout Friday causing flooding fears along creeks and other waterways.

Rain is falling across New Jersey as remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea move up the coast. A flash flood watch is in effect for the state through late Friday night.

Across the river in Pennsylvania, Flash Flood Watches are also in effect in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties and a Flood Advisory is in effect for Chester County.

Also flood-prone areas like the Darby Creek, residents are getting ready for potential floodwaters -- just in case.

“We’ll probably move everything in the basement,” said Darby Borough resident Stephanie Link.

There are also Flood Watches in New Castle and Kent Counties in Delaware.

The National Weather Service says rainfall amounts of 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches are possible with isolated amounts near 5 inches. The rain will result in flooding of some roadways and the possibility of river flooding increases when amounts exceed 3 inches.

There's a high rip current risk along the Jersey Shore with surf heights of 4 to 6 feet.
