Woman Dies After Being Struck by 2 Cars in North Philadelphia, 1 Car Drives Off

Philadelphia Police say a driver fled after sending a woman -- who witnesses said was topless -- into the air along North Broad Street in the Logan section of Philadelphia. The woman later died in the hospital.

Accident invesitgators said a woman in her 50s was crossing Broad Street at Belfield Avenue around 5 a.m. when a compact white car struck her and sent her flying into the air and into the path of a second car.

Medics rushed the woman to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she later died.

Authorities are searching for the driver of the white car, which fled the scene. The second vehicle stopped and the driver cooperated with investigators.

Witnesses told authorities the woman was topless when the accident occurred, but it is unclear why she was only half-dressed, according to police.

Officials closed southbound lanes of the roadway as they investigated.
