The southbound lanes of the Walt Whitman Bridge have reopened after a multi-vehicle crash.

The accident occured just after 4 p.m. Wednesday on the Route 42 south ramp from the bridge, Delaware River Port Authority police said. One person suffered minor injuries. The ramp reopened just after 5 p.m., officials said.

While the roadway is now open, crews are working to clear debris from the roadway. Major delays are expected to remain for some time, DRPA officials said.

Traffic is backed up on I-76 for several miles and on I-95 southbound from the foot of the bridge to Washington Avenue.
