State Officials Tout Supervised Teen Driving Program

State officials are touting a program aimed at helping new teenage drivers become safe drivers.

Gov. Jack Markell planned to be on hand Wednesday in Dover as Delaware's Division of Motor Vehicles launches The Parent's Supervised Driving Program.

The program, sponsored by Ford Motor Co. in partnership with Safe Roads Alliance, is designed to optimize the 50 hours of supervised driving time required for Delaware teens.

Officials say the program is geared toward helping teens develop skills and knowledge about road conditions while driving with their parents before being able to drive on their own.
