Wire Falls on SEPTA Regional Rail Train, Stops Service for Hours

SEPTA suspended service on its Chestnut Hill East line this morning after a wire fell onto a Regional Rail train.

The closure would stay in place for hours as crews worked to fix service.

The wire fell on the Regional Rail train near SEPTA's Stenton Station in the East Mount Airy section of Philadelphia around 8:45 a.m.

No injuries were reported and all passengers were led off the train, according to SEPTA.

For the rest of the morning and part of the after, the rail line remained closed.

With service suspended, SEPTA urged commuters to use their tool for finding alternate routes.

SEPTA said the scene was cleared around 1:30 p.m. and that service would resume with a train leaving Suburban Station at 1:40 and a train leaving Chestnut Hill East at 2:44 p.m.
