A crash along SEPTA Regional Rail tracks in Delaware County left an elderly man stuck in his vehicle Sunday afternoon.
The wreck where the tracks cross Brookhaven Road just after Turner Road in Wallingford, Pennsylvania around 2:40 p.m. caused SEPTA to cancel all service along the Media/Elwyn Line for hours.
The force of the crash caused the man, who is in his early 90s, to get trapped inside the sport utility vehicle with critical injuries, said Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain. Firefighters cut the doors off the badly-mangled silver SUV and got the driver out after about 20 minutes.
"He was injured and transferred to Crozer Chester Medical Center," said Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain.
The man remained hospitalized in serious condition Sunday night.
One of the about 20 people on the SEPTA train suffered a neck injury, Splain said. The passengers walked to the nearby station where SEPTA organized transportation to get them to their destinations.
For hours, there were traffic troubles in the area and it took SEPTA nearly three hours to get trains running again on the Media/Elwyn Line.

There was also damage to the railroad gate, which could take until tomorrow to fix, said Splain.
