Regional Rail Name Changes Start Today

Things are going to look a little different this morning for SEPTA Regional Rail riders.

SEPTA is no longer going with its color-coded, R-labeled train system. 

It has renamed its Regional Rail lines by their final destinations.
   
So now, what was the R5 is now the Lansdale-Doylestown regional rail line. The R1 is now the Airport line.

"This will not change train service -- only the way we refer to individual lines on timetables, signs for cars and stations, maps, and customer announcements. Along with the name rebranding we are also adopting a single color designation, blue gray, for all Regional Rail Lines and we will be introducing new train numbers," said SEPTA's General Manager, Joseph M. Casey, in a statement on the website.

SEPTA says the changes will make things simpler and easier for tourists and riders who don't usually ride those lines:
