    President Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan, will be in Center City for the Republican retreat on Thursday. NBC10’s Denise Nakano walks us through what tight security and road closures to expect around Philadelphia. (Published Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017)

    President Donald Trump will be in Philadelphia Thursday to meet with Republican lawmakers at an annual GOP retreat. And with the president's visit comes detours and closures around Center City.

    The retreat will take place at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel on 1200 Market Street Thursday. The following road closures will be in place from 8 a.m. Thursday to at least 6 p.m. Thursday as a result:

    • 13th Street from Chestnut Street to Market Street
    • Market Street from 11th Street to Juniper Street
    • 12th Street from Chestnut to Arch Street

    The following parking restrictions will go into effect Thursday at 6 a.m.

    PPA workers will tow any cars parked on those streets and take them to the PPA impoundment lot at 2501 S. Weccacoe Avenue in South Philadelphia. The parking restrictions will be lifted once roads reopen to vehicular traffic Thursday night.

    The US Secret Service is also establishing a perimeter that will limit pedestrian access to the following streets starting Thursday at 6 a.m.

    • 1100 and 1200 block of Market – both north and south sides
    • 12th Street from Chestnut to Filbert Streets – both east and west sides
    • 13th Street from Chestnut to Market Streets – both east and west sides

    SEPTA also planned to close the 13th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line subway from the start of the service day Thursday. As MFL trains skip the station, the 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 trolley lines will originate and end service at the 15th Street Station throughout the day.

    Regional Rail riders will need to enter of exit the Jefferson Station at the 11th or Filbert street exits only, said SEPTA.

    Philadelphia's Office of Special Events also received an application for a demonstration scheduled to take place Thursday from  11 a.m. to 3 p.m. City officials say an estimated 3,000 people are expected to participate. Leaders urge city residents to follow the City of Philadelphia twitter page to stay up to date on any road closures caused by the demonstration.

    The goal of the retreat is to work out more details on moving a legislative agenda through Congress this year and revamping the nation’s health care system.

    Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning will also attend the retreat to give a motivational speech. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., calls the two-time Super Bowl winner a longtime friend and is scheduled to introduce him to colleagues Thursday evening.
