Mayor Offers Medical Reason for Smashing Parked Cars

State Police are investigating how a small town New Jersey mayor struck six parked vehicles.

Shrewsbury Township Mayor Edward Nolan tells the Asbury Park Press he blacked out after suffering a seizure on Sunday afternoon.

The 66-year-old says he's had a “seizure condition” for about six years and takes medication. Nolan says he plans to stop driving.

“It’s my personal decision,” Nolan told the paper. “State Police said my license could be taken away for 18 months and then I would have to retest through my doctor and go through motor vehicle. They said that would be up to me.

“My decision is to not continue driving.”

No one was hurt.
