Starting Friday, Delaware drivers that sign up for E-ZPass will get a free transponder.
Drivers still have to pay the toll but it won’t cost them anything extra to do it speedily.
The Delaware Department of Transportation is offering free E-ZPass transponders for new account holders.
Starting Friday, the $15 fee for a new transponder will be waived. The promotion ends Dec. 31.
The state has issued more than 350,000 E-ZPass transponders since introducing the electronic toll system in 1999. Motorists with E-ZPass can currently zip through toll booths along I-95 and Route 1 in Delaware.
The transponders work beyond just Delaware including on Delaware River River bridges, The Pennsylvania Turnpike, Atlantic City Expressway and Garden State Parkway.
