Baby Girl Appears to Be “OK” After Deadly Crash

A woman and her infant daughter remain hospitalized with injuries from a head-on Christmas night crash between two sport utility vehicles that killed both drivers.

Katherine Breese, 30, of North Franklin Township,  was listed in critical condition at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh after the crash on Route 18 in Morris Township in Washington County.

Breese's 8-month-old daughter was taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where her condition wasn't available, but state police trooper Joe Ross told The (Washington) Observer-Reporter that "It appears she's going to be OK."

State police in Washington County say one SUV heading north crossed the center line and collided with a southbound SUV at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say 46-year-old Shari Cox of Prosperity died at the scene and 28-year-old Stephen Breese of Washington, Pa. died at a hospital. Police said Cox wasn't wearing a seat belt and there was no evidence that Breese was either.

Police said they didn't know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the wreck.
