Philly's Lincoln Drive to Undergo Major Facelift

A major thoroughfare that cuts through Northwest Philadelphia will undergo construction in the next several months, and the Philadelphia Streets Department held a public meeting Wednesday to inform residents about the road work.

Lincoln Drive between Ridge Avenue and Wayne Avenue is set to go under construction after the Walnut Lane Bridge reopens. That bridge, between Roxborough and Mount Airy, has been closed for some time undergoing repairs and improvements.

The Lincoln Drive project will include paving, sidewalk improvements, barrier and guardrail improvements, traffic signals and installation of better drainage.

June Cantor of the Philadelphia Streets Department said road closures on Lincoln Drive will be limited to nights and weekends. The Streets Department is working closely with PennDOT to make sure traffic is maintained on the busy road during the morning and evening rush hours.
