Old City Stroll: A Swanky Sidewalk Sale

Two days of outdoor (and indoor) shopping.

Tourists may wander through it to find Betsy Ross's house, but locals know the streets of Old City are where to find some of the best shopping in the city. Rittenhouse Row might have the big name retailers, but Old City is packed with indie boutiques and galleries that offer a uniquely Philly fashion perspective.

This weekend, these Old City shops are throwing open their doors and bringing the merchandise out onto the street for the second annual Old City Stroll & Sidewalk Sale.  From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, the neighborhood will roll out the welcome mat in the hopes that customers will roll out their wallets.

The Wild Bohemians (a band, not the residents) will roam the streets playing Louisiana-inspired music, there will be free samples of food and several boutiques will offer giveaways and door prizes -- including a $100 gift card at Three Sirens, J. Karma and Scarlett Alley -- for shoppers who stop in and enter to win.

Who knows? Maybe some of those tourists will stop in, take advantage of the sale and trade in those fanny packs for something with some real Philly style.
