Wildwood Bars to Close on Time

Wildwood officials don't vote on 24-hour bar ordinance

Bars in Wildwood, New Jersey will continue to close at 3 a.m.

Officials in the Jersey shore resort decided not to vote on an ordinance that would have allowed bars to stay open 24 hours a day.

Wildwood's City Commission made the decision during a hearing Wednesday night.

Commissioners initially considered allowing the bars to remain open an extra hour until 4 a.m.

But they abandoned that in favor of the 24-hour suggestion by Club Luna manager John Davis.

Davis says the additional time would help the towns' struggling bars in a difficult economy and eliminate the streets filling with
patrons when the bars close.

Commissioner Al Brannen urged bar owners to find new ways to attract customers.
