NJ's Ice Cream Festival Comes to Toms River

Awards to be given out both nationally and locally on Saturday.

Sweet lovers, rejoice: The Best Ice Cream in New Jersey will be crowned in Toms River on Saturday, and you can have a say in that savory decision. You can taste ice cream from ten of the state’s best vendors.

The Ninth Annual New Jersey State Ice Cream Festival will be held on Saturday, July 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Washington Street. Special judges and "the people" will vote on national and local.

The cost to eat all of this ice cream is $6 if you order your ice cream tasting kit in advance (or $7 the day of the event). If you buy ahead of time, you'll get to vote in the people’s choice category.

If you’re worried about the ice cream running out… don't. Competitors are required to bring at least 50 gallons of ice cream, so there’s plenty for the palates.

You can nurse your brain freeze to a ton of musical talent lined up for the day including, Kootz Band, Oceanaires Barbershop Chorus, Showplace Waitri, and Kayla Calabrese.

Ice cream eating contests are also planned for both adults and children.

Oh, and the forecast for Sunday, looks perfect for ice cream!
