Old Original Bookbinder’s on Walnut Street is closed, for now, due to mechanical emergencies, according to restaurant’s voicemail. They’re urging patrons to call back periodically to check they’ve re-opened.
The Philadelphia landmark has had trouble paying its utility bills for quite some time. In fact, the electric was shut off on March 9, but turned back on the next day, after a payment of $35,000 was made (chump change, the bill is over $70,000, says a Peco representative).
Rumor has it the Peco bill is not the problem, the gas bill is.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
