That Girl: Nicole Rossi

This week's That Girl Profile is Nicole Rossi.

This week's profile is Nicole Rossi of Philadelphia. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Nicole is this week's "That Girl."

What I like about this look.

This outfit is chic but rugged. This lovely lady offers us both soft and hard textures/structures in one ensemble—lesson of the day: don’t be afraid to mix opposites. While the dress flutters around her body, moving flexibly, and appearing quite soft, her leather jacket is stiff and form-fitting with pockets and buttons. It creates a balance; referring back to my review of “That Girl” Safia Khan, pair loose fitting bottoms with a fitted top, or vice versa, so that your outfit doesn’t swallow your entire body. Miss Nicole does one-up by utilizing complementary colors. Her dress provides a variety of reds, pinks, and purples, while her jacket is a sort of mishmash of all three of those colors. But what’s even better—she has thrown in an electric blue patent leather purse to remind us that being fashion forward is about stretching the mind—who thought to throw a vibrant blue in here?!

Where could this outfit be worn?

This outfit is fairly appropriate across the board.  It’s excellent for socializing during the day or night. Depending on your place of employment, this outfit is even appropriate for work (fashion magazine, retail space, art gallery, etc).

Where can you buy this particular look?

A beautifully colored leather jacket is available at such retailers as Alibaba.com, Arden B, Belstaff, H & M, Polyvore.com, etc.  This type of dress is best found at Forever 21, Free People, H & M, JCrew, Modcloth.com, Shopstyle.com, South Moon Under, etc. Want a purse like this? Find it at Aldo, Botkier Bianca at shopbop.com, Furla, Magid Mary Hobo at eBags.com, Etsy.com, etc.

Style tip?

My one styling adjustment would be absolutely nothing—this look is strong. She could consider wearing electric blue shoes as well, but that won’t make or break the look.
