That Girl: Madeleine Smith

What I like about this look?

One word—nude. I find nude to be one of the sexiest colors there is for apparel, footwear, and accessories. It inspires the idea of naked flesh without appearing provocative. My favorite is nude patent leather shoes. Not only is this lovely young woman wearing nude patent leather flats, but she’s very tastefully made nude the focus of her entire ensemble. The leopard print tank offers a variation of nude tones, and the pattern creates interest to the overall look. Her trench coat, while tan in actuality, simulates nude and kicks the ensemble from casual to dressy casual. It does so through its structure, texture, and practicality: The structure comes from its hard cut lines, the texture is found in the buttons, substantial collar, and straps, and overall it defends against wind and rain. To break up the nude, she’s used a black legging, drawing out the darker tones from the leopard print and her accessories. Her accessories play on the brown tones of her outfit and really complete the look. The tortuous-shell glasses match the browns in the leopard print and help draw attention to her necklace and the buttons on her trench. The structured handbag, classily worn on her elbow, offers the sleek attitude that only black leather can provide, and helps pick up the necklace, glasses, and leggings as well. I find this look to be quite posh and would most definitely emulate it myself.

Where could this outfit be worn?

This outfit moves quite smoothly from 9am to 9pm. She could wear this to class and go to the bar with her friends afterwards. She could go to brunch, or lunch, or dinner. Its excellent for shopping, visiting museums, hanging out with friends, or going to the movies.
