That Girl: Lydia Kulina

This week's That Girl Profile is Lydia Kulina.

This week's Profile is Lydia Kulina of Philadelphia. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Lydia Kulina is this week's That Girl.

What I like about this look.

This dress is fabulous. It’s simply cut, simply colored, but with intricate pleating at the bottom—which is the selling point of this dress. Lesson of the day, minimalism can be just the ticket. Minimalism (the act of dressing with the simplest and fewest elements possible) often conveys a sense of cleanliness, polish, and strength. All she did to surround this dress was put on some tights (because its winter), some knee high brown boots, and some very basic turquoise jewelry—an excellent pop of color with this caramel brown. Beautifully done.

Where could this outfit be worn?

This ensemble is good for work (depending on your place of business: i.e. an employer who requires a more creative flare in your apparel, such as a retailer), going out to dinner, going to a party, and other activities of this nature.

Where can you buy this particular look?

A dress such as this is best found at: Delia’s, JCrew, LOFT, Modcloth.com, Shopstyle.com, Urban Outfitters, etc. Look for dresses that are simple in color but have a touch of excitement to their styling. Knee-high lace-up boots are best found at: Amazon.com, Polyvore.com, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, etc. Turquoise jewelry can be found at: Anthropologie, Free People, Macy’s, Ross-Simons.com, Silvertribe.com, etc.

Style tip?

My one recommendation would be to switch out the black tight for a different color. I feel the black is fighting the soft brown dress and deep brown boots. Perhaps a deep purple, teal, or turquoise tight (if you can find it) next time.
