That Girl: Lisa Voelkner

This week's That Girl Profile is Lisa Voelkner.

This week's Profile is Lisa Voelkner of Philadelphia, PA. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Lisa is this week's That Girl.

What I like about this look?

With her fitted sweatshirt, rolled up jeans, converse, tortuous-shell glasses, and purse, she makes me think of James Dean with a feminine twist—and I think we all can agree that James Dean was a polished looking bad-boy. The slender cut of the sweatshirt and jeans is snug enough to define her female shape, while loose enough to provide a strong sense of casual confidence. The tortuous-shell glasses not only play on the current nerdy-cute fashion trend, but provide a bit of detail to the overall look, and encourage viewers to make eye contact with her—another sign of confidence. Lastly, the brown handbag breaks up the overall blue complexion of this ensemble and serves as another indicator of her gender. As a result, this lovely lady appears completely at ease with herself and her surroundings, and like a bundle of fun.

Where could this outfit be worn?

This outfit is excellent for all casual activities: class, shopping, the movies, lunching out, house parties, etc. The benefit is that you will feel completely comfortable, while still looking refined.

Where can you buy this particular look?

 Style tip?

My one styling change would be to use a brown handbag that has more detailing, or hardware, to add embellishment to the overall appearance. And here’s an extra tip, carry your handbag on your elbow—it provides a more feminine feel.
