You drive one mile per hour in a crowded area, not because you want to be safe but because you want as many people as possible to see your ride. As the eyes of the women widen and the eyes of the men turn green, you beam with the pride of a mother revealing her newborn.

Admit it, you love to show off your classic car and beginning on Thursday, September 24, you can do just that and walk away with more than a mere ego boost.

The 16th Annual Boardwalk Classic Car Show will run through Sunday, September 27 in Wildwood, New Jersey. The show will feature a vast collection of classic cars as well as live entertainment from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

A parade of classic cars will begin at 3 p.m. as the vehicles will exit the boardwalk and go south on Atlantic Avenue to Sunset Lake in Wildwood Crest.

Car enthusiasts can register for the event on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m, Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. or Saturday, 8 a.m. until noon at the Imperial 500 Motel.

For registered participants, the fun begins on September 24 at 6:30 p.m. with the 1st Annual Classic Car Street Festival taking place at Wildwood Crest Fitness Park on Ocean Drive. Highlights will include music from the Funseekers Band as well as food and awards.

Trophies will be given for Best Original and Best Rod. Plaques will be given for Best Engine, Best Interior, and Best Paint. The judging will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the winners announced at 9:30 p.m.

The inners Circle competition will begin Saturday, September 26, at 6 p.m.. Participants will compete for Top 40, Top Gun, Best Paint, Ladies’ Choice, Best Interior, Most Likely to Get Pulled Over, Club Participation, Best Engine, and Best in Show. The winner of the Best in Show will receive $500 and a trophy.

Over the busy weekend, there will also be a classic car auction inside the Convention Center.

Got all that down? Good. Now make sure your car is in tip-top shape. The judges will be a bit more difficult to impress than random bystanders. Good luck and have fun…showoff.
