Tucson Shooting Hero Coming to Philly

A National hero is coming to Philadelphia.

Daniel Hernandez Jr. will receive the Equality Forum’s National Role Model Award during the forum's LGBT summit.

The award will be presented at the International Equality Dinner at the National Constitution Center on April 30th.

Hernandez is an intern of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and a student at the University of Arizona. He helped save the congresswoman’s life after she was shot in the head during the Tucson shooting back on January 8th.

Hernandez applied pressure to her gunshot wound and made sure she did not choke on her own blood. He did all of this before emergency services arrived.

The Equality Forum will have its week long Global LGBT Summit starting on April 25th.

The annual event features panel discussions, parties and dinners focused on LGBT civil rights and issues.
